Crooks & Castles is the brand of bad boys. We have always rooted for the villains, whether in a movie, a comic book, a novel, a rap song or everyday life. We grew up in L.A. during the 80’s and 90’s. We became a part of this rebellious lifestyle. Gangs were everywhere - the ‘hood, the city, even suburbia. Most had no choice but to adapt to the environment. Some were lucky enough to escape. Others turned what they learned on the street into a goldmine. What caught our attention in the mid 90’s was independent fashion brands—and the graphics that go with them. We worked at it for years, and learned the ins and outs. Then we started our own business. This is how Crooks & Castles first appeared in shops. The concept was easy. "Crooks” are criminals, pimps, hustlers, thieves, etc. And "Castles": those who got rich by becoming crooks, passing their wealth and trade on to their sons. From the robber barons of the early times like the Vanderbilts, the Rockerfellers, the Carnegies, to the modern day billionaires—Bill Gates and Microsoft. Those who stopped at nothing to get their "Castle." The next rich crooks will be us. On some of our garments you might see logos that we have “borrowed”—or maybe stolen—and given our own twist. We felt that some brands only catered to people with a certain lifestyle—or with rather large bank accounts. So we took what they made and crafted it to fit our taste.
